Summary of Who I Am in English

Part I – Many Voices

RADHA: Radha loves to climb trees. She has a mango tree outside her house which she climbs. Her mother tells her not to do so, but one day her mother also climbed the tree and both sat there eating raw mangoes. She feels she can rule the world.

NASIR: Nasir wants to become a seed collector when he grows up. His father and grandfather spend a lot of money on seeds. They have cotton fields. His father and grandfather used to grow new cotton plants from their own seeds but that does not work now, because they do not know how to preserve seeds. He wants to learn ways of preserving seeds to save money.

ROHIT: Rohit is an adventurous and nature loving boy. He loves to travel. He wants to visit the mountains of New Zealand, the Amazon river in South America, Lakshdweep, Konark Temple, the old city of Beijing in China and the Pyramids of Egypt.

SERBJIT: Serbjit gets angry because nobody trusts him even when he is telling the truth. When he tells his teacher truthfully the reason for not doing his home work or that he had studied for the test but could not get good marks, she does not believe him. Even his parents don’t believe him, when he tells them that his little brother started the fight. He has to make an effort to keep his anger under control.

DOLMA: Dolma’s dream is to become the Prime Minister. She wants her country to have good roads, hospitals and schools. She wants to see India moving ahead, by sending space ship to Mars and the scientists to find cure for diseases. She solves everyone’s problems and her teachers also trust her.

PETER: Second Sunday of every month is Peter’s favourite day because his father takes the whole family to watch a movie. In the darkness of the hall, they love to eat peanuts and after the show they all eat ice-cream. He feels lucky to be part of a happy family.

Part II – Multiple Intelligences

Visual Intelligence: Persons with visual intelligence are very observant. They enjoy looking at maps, charts, pictures, videos etc. They can be good artists, designers, engineers.

Verbal Intelligence: Verbally intelligent people use words and language to their advantage. They are good at speaking, writing, teaching, counselling etc. They become good writers, teachers, lawyers, politicians, journalists.

Mathematical Intelligence: Persons with this intelligence use logic, reason and numbers. They are good in maths and solving puzzles. They become good numerologists, accountants, computer programmers, engineers and scientists.

Bodily Intelligence: Such people have good control over their body movements. They are good at acting, dancing, sports and become good sportsmen, dancers, actors and physical education teachers.

Musical Intelligence: Such people like to play and enjoy music. They respond to any kind of music instantly. They can sing, whistle, play musical instruments, compose music and therefore become musicians, singers and composers.

Interpersonal Intelligence: This intelligence helps to understand people. How others think about a certain issue. They see things from other people’s point of view, and thus help them solve their problems. Such people can become salesmen, businessmen, teachers and counsellors

Summary of Who I Am in Hindi

राधा: यहां, राधा अपनी पसंद और साहसी कृत्यों को साझा कर रही है। राधा का कहना है कि उनकी सबसे स्पष्ट बात पेड़ों पर चढ़ना थी। उनके घर के बाहर, एक आम का पेड़ था। वह उस पेड़ पर चढ़ना पसंद करती थी। उसकी शाखाओं ने एक बड़े क्षेत्र को कवर किया जिससे पेड़ के द्विभाजित हिस्से में चढ़ना और बैठना आसान हो गया। उसकी माँ ने उसे यह कहते हुए पेड़ों पर चढ़ने से रोकने की कोशिश की कि यह लड़कियों के लिए अच्छा नहीं है। लेकिन एक दोपहर वह भी उसके साथ चढ़ गई और दो कच्चे आम खाकर बात करने में सक्षम हुईं। राधा ने कहा कि पेड़ों पर चढ़ने से उसे ऐसा महसूस होता था जैसे वह पूरी दुनिया पर राज कर सकती है।

नासिर: नासिर का कहना है कि एक बार जब वह बड़ा हो जाता है तो वह एक बीज कलेक्टर बनना चाहता है। चूंकि उनके परिवार के पास कपास के खेत थे और हर साल उनके पिता को कपास के पौधे उगाने के लिए अच्छी रकम खर्च करनी पड़ती थी। वह इस खर्च को रोकना चाहता था। उनके दादाजी ने उन्हें बताया कि उनके समय में, वे अपने पौधों से बीज प्राप्त करते थे। इन बीजों का उपयोग नए पौधों को उगाने के लिए किया जाता था। वह बीज को संरक्षित करने के तरीकों की खोज करना चाहता था, क्योंकि इससे उन्हें पैसे बचाने में मदद मिलेगी।

रोहित: रोहित यात्रा के लिए अपने जुनून को साझा कर रहे हैं। उनका कहना है कि अगर उनके पास बड़ी रकम होती तो वे बहुत यात्रा करना पसंद करते। वह न्यूज़ीलैंड के पहाड़ों की यात्रा करना चाहता था क्योंकि वे पत्रिकाओं पर अच्छे लगते हैं। वह दक्षिण अमेरिका में अमेजन नदी पर भी कब्जा करना चाहता था। वह लक्षद्वीप के समुद्र तटों पर रहना चाहते थे और कोरल को देखने के लिए नीचे उतरे। उनकी इच्छा सूची में उड़ीसा का कोणार्क मंदिर, चीन का बीजिंग शहर और मिस्र का पिरामिड भी शामिल था। लेकिन इमारतों से ज्यादा उनकी इच्छा प्रकृति के भीतर रहने की थी।

सर्बजीत: जब लोगों ने उस पर अविश्वास दिखाया तो सर्बजीत को गुस्सा आया। जब उसने सच बोला, तो लोगों ने उस पर विश्वास नहीं किया। उन्हें लगा कि वह उनसे झूठ बोल रहा है। इसलिए, वह अपना काम पूरा नहीं कर सकता था क्योंकि रवि ने अपनी पुस्तक उधार ली थी और उसे वापस नहीं किया था। या वह इस तथ्य के बावजूद अच्छे अंक हासिल नहीं कर सकता है कि उसने अध्ययन किया है या यह एक लड़ाई का विषय है जो उसने शुरू नहीं किया था बल्कि उसके भाई ने ऐसा किया था। कोई भी उस पर विश्वास करने के लिए तैयार नहीं था, न ही उसके शिक्षक और न ही उसके माता-पिता। उसने अपने जूतों को नीचे देखकर और दस तक गिनकर अपने गुस्से को नियंत्रित करने की कोशिश की।

डोल्मा: डोल्मा सभी के लिए चीजों को बेहतर बनाने और उनकी सेवा करने के लिए प्रधान मंत्री बनना चाहती थीं। लोग उसकी महत्वाकांक्षा पर हँसे लेकिन उसे यकीन था कि वह इसे हासिल कर लेगी। जब भी उसके सहपाठी फंसते थे, वे उससे समाधान पूछते थे। जब भी स्कूल में कुछ नया किया जाना था, तो उनके शिक्षकों ने उन पर भरोसा दिखाया। उन्होंने कहा कि वह देश के लिए अच्छे अस्पताल, सड़कें और स्कूल बनाना चाहते हैं। वह यह भी चाहती थी कि सक्षम वैज्ञानिक वहाँ हों ताकि बीमारियों का इलाज मिल सके और मंगल पर अंतरिक्ष यान भेजे जा सकें।

पीटर: पीटर का सबसे अच्छा दिन महीने का दूसरा रविवार था। उस दिन उनका परिवार फिल्म देखने के लिए बाहर जाता था। उनके पिता के हाथ में टिकट होगा और उन्हें सूचित किया जाएगा। वे सभी – उनके माता-पिता, दादी, दो भाई और खुद- सिनेमा हॉल तक पहुंचने के लिए एक बस लेंगे। ब्रेक के समय के दौरान, उनके पिता उनके लिए मूंगफली खरीदते थे जो उन्हें फिल्म देखने के दौरान हॉल के अंधेरे में खाना पसंद था। फिल्म खत्म होने के बाद वे आइसक्रीम खाना बंद कर देंगे। इसने सभी को अच्छे मूड में रखा और उन्होंने इसे सौभाग्य के रूप में लिया कि वे एक खुशहाल परिवार थे।
