Question 1: Why was the king advised to go to magicians?

Answer: Some of the wise men thought that to decide the right time to do something, one must look into the future and only magicians were able to do that. So, they advised the king to go to the magicians.

Question 2: In answer to the second question, whose advice did the people say would be important to the king?

Answer: In answer to the second question, some wise men believed that the king should have some councilors to give him advice, some others said priests, some other wise men said that doctors’ advice was most important and yet others believed that the soldiers were the most important.

Answer: In answer to the third question, i.e. “What is the most important thing to do”, some wise men responded that science was the most important thing, some others believed that fighting was the most crucial thing to do for a king, and the others said that religious worship was the most important thing to do.

Answer: (i) The bearded man an enemy of the king. The king had put the man’s brother to death and had also seized his property. That is why he wanted to take revenge on the king.

(ii) He asked for the king’s forgiveness as the king had saved his life. He came there for taking revenge from the king but instead the king helped him to get better.

Question 7: The king forgave the bearded man. What did he do to show his forgiveness?

Answer: The king forgave the man. He showed his forgiveness by telling him that he would send his servants and his own doctor to look after him. He also promised to give back the man his property.

Answer: In answer to the first question, the hermit said that there is only one time that is important and that time is ‘Now’. It is the only time when one has any power to act.

The hermit answered the second question by saying that the most necessary person is the person you are with at a particular moment. This is because no one knows what will happen in the future and whether we will meet anyone else.

The hermit’s response to the third question was that the most important thing is to do good for the person one is with. This is because all are sent into this world for that purpose alone.

The hermit was an old man and used to live in a hut amidst the woods. He was digging the ground in front of his hut when I arrived there. He greeted me and continued his work. I informed him the purpose of my visit, but still he continued digging the ground. He looked tired so I offered my help. He agreed, so I took the spade from him and started digging the ground. After digging for many hours I again repeated my questions, but the hermit did not answer. Evening was approaching and now I thought of returning. Suddenly, the hermit showed me a bearded man who was running towards us.
